The Little Egon Schiele by Catherine de Duve (review + giveaway c/d 18 January 2016)

You might have read my recent review of The Little Vermeer book, but we were lucky to receive two books from this wonderful art series. The Little Egon Schiele (Happy Museum, ISBN 978-2875750297is also written by Catherine de Duve.
This is an art book that the whole family could explore and enjoy. It is educational but also playful.
This lovely book tells the story of the famous artist Egon Schiele.
Not only will you read the artist's biography, you will learn about the artistic movement called Expressionism as well as discover the snippets of history of the time.
,

What I liked the most about the book is that you're not just a "consumer", you are a participant.
It makes you think. For example, you are asked to look at the patterns of the reflections of the boats in the sea, spotting the differences and drawing pencil lines, following Schiele's examples.

Schiele was known as the Silver Klimt, and the book dwells on the similarities and differences between these two artists.
Look at the picture and try to sit in the same position. Decide if the character of the painting looks sad or happy. Spot the people in the picture and tell what they are doing.
You are constantly invited to join in and be an active participant. Every page has questions which make you think.
At £5.99, this book will make a great addition to an art book collection.

If you like the sound of this book, I have a lovely prize for my blog readers - 2 books from the series - The Little Vermeer and The Little Egon Schiele.
