Photo diary: week 10, 366

Sunday was Mother's day, a holiday which I'm in two minds about. I much prefer the 8th of March, which is an International Women's day and celebrates women of all ages and statuses. We went out to Costa with our boys, then when I popped into the local Poundland for some chocolate, Eddie saw a Spiderman bedding set and kept asking me until I conceded defeat. At £8 for a set, it was considerably less expensive than the similar sets online. And my Spidey fan was ecstatic.

On Monday all the Mother's day bouquets were reduced, and I bought two small bunches to cheer up the kitchen. I also baked chocolate chip cookies. I've been baking a lot in the last week.

I love ironstone china, and once every couple of weeks check out the local charity shops for any lovely pieces I might add to my mismatched collection. I saw this beautiful cup and saucer for just 50p each. How could I resist?!

Wednesday was a miserable day, with the rain bucketing most of the morning and afternoon. The river levels have gone up, and the fields got flooded again. I had to trot all the way across the town to get to the Royal Mail depot to pick up 3 packages I missed the day before. I was wet and grumpy, just like this gargoyle on St Mary's church which was spitting the rain water.

On Thursday I got a tub of a Frill frozen smoothie (won a voucher on Twitter), and Eddie was happily eating it. When I offered to give him a little bowl for the smoothie, he replied that it tasted better from the tub. It is a lovely frozen dessert, and I'm glad my child enjoyed it (but it tasted a tad too healthy for me).

Friday morning was beautiful, the town was immersed in the fog, which has hidden all the ugly spots like endless traffic and bins. St Mary's Church was almost invisible behind the wall of mist.

Today has been a quiet day, not much is happening. We did some grocery shopping, then after lunch I baked peanut butter cookies. Tomorrow I'm taking Eddie to the cinema as he begged me to go to Kung Fu Panda 3 (so wish me luck! I'm bracing myself). I paid over £17 online (and that's with 10% off), which I think is a pure racket for a kids' movie. No adult in their sober mind would go to watch this film for the pleasure of the animation, clearly all grown-ups are there to accompany their children, and the prices should be lowered accordingly (says grumpy old woman).

  1. £17 to see a film is disgusting, imagine if you have more children to take.
What a great bargain for the bedding set.
    Peanut butter cookies sound nice.

    1. Thank you Elaine, I think it is a rip-off, and if the whole family wants to see the film, it becomes very expensive, especially if kids want some snacks as well.

  2. Love your little Spiderman - that set was a real bargain. The fog and rain have been here too, but lets hope this sunshine lasts now x #366

    1. Thank you! I haven't been to the grown-up films in the cinema either, as I prefer watching DVDs at home as well. :)
