Photo diary: week 3, project 365

After watching Hotel Transylvania 3 on DVD, Eddie's new catchphrase is "Holy moly, that's a lot of guacamole". He was repeating it again this morning, jumping on the bed, while I was ironing. In comes my husband and says: "That's what your mother used to say when we lived in the States". I said: "Actually, that's not true. I used to say Holy Cannoli then".

We're on week 3 of January already, holy moly guacamole! It feels like we were only just getting ready for Christmas, and now it's all about Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies in the shops.

Last Sunday I bought a new French cheese La Baguette. It's a lovely creamy cheese - an absolute treat with oatcakes and muscat grapes.

A quick coffee in the Blue Boar after the school run on Monday morning... This pretty posy was a welcome splash of colour on the otherwise very grey dull day.

Eddie loves Domino's pizza, but the prices are pretty much extortional for a takeaway pizza. I only rarely order it on Tuesdays, when they have a two for one deal.
Eddie fancied trying their new Cheeseburger pizza. It does sound somewhat revolting, but actually is not too bad, if you're a meat eater. Pickles were the best bit.
They have changed their menu a few months ago, removing some of the tastier vegetarian Italian style pizzas. Now the range of vegetarian pizza is a bit on the boring side.

Rather than taking photos of what we eat or Eddie's pics - though he is usually happy to oblige, I tried to do some abstract-ish photos. This is a part of the rain-washed road, with a little reflection in a mini puddle.

A lonely football got stuck in the empty branches of the tree in the school yard.

More of the wet weather shots...

Our favourite Costa is getting closed for refurbishment for a few days. Eddie and I popped in for a drink and a treat before doing the grocery shopping.
We also popped in to the library to check out if they had more books in the Raven's mysteries series by Marcus Sedgwick. I bought the 1st book in the charity shop recently for 99p, and Eddie loved it very much - especially that the main character, the old wise raven, is called Edgar. We were happy to see that they have books 2 and 3 in the series, so we borrowed the 2nd one.

  1. Ahh! I have noticed the Easter things in the shops. I love it. Easter egg chocolate is the best!
    That cheese sounds delicious!
We love Dominos here too but they are so expensive! It is a big treat when we get them. Fab photos! x

    1. Thank you, Kim! My guys love Easter chocolate too. I've already bought a few Creme eggs for them (personally can't eat them, as they are too sweet). :)

  2. Love the photo of the drop of water on the branch. I've tried taking photos in puddles before and I can never get them to work out. Us vegetarians are constantly forgotten by the food trade - supermarkets and restaurants just keep removing stuff from their ranges or changing them completely. There would be uproar if they did it with meat stuff!

    1. Thank you, Sarah! Reflections in puddles seem to fascinate me. I think there is actually a lot of new foods for vegetarians, but of course, would be nice to see a greater variety. But yes, a boo to Dominoe's, they should do a better balance of pizzas for both meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans.

    1. Thank you, Cheryl! Raindrops are a bit tricky for me to snap, as my camera is not good with very small-sized close-ups.

  4. I've seen Easter chocolate in shops. Why?! Until that, there are Valentine's Day and Pancake Day to consider. Beside overpriced red roses & chocolate and overpriced pancake mix, the shops can't seem to figure out anything more interesting to mark these occasions. After that they complain their sales figures are down and blame Brexit for it or the weather, of course.
Domino's pizzas are expensive and the veggie options are boring. For us, in L'pool, is cheaper to go to a Weatherspoon for pizza than order this takeaway. And there are some pretty nice Weatherspoon locations to chose from.

    1. Thank you, Anca! I've never been in a Weatherspoon, and didn't know they make pizza, for some reason I expected it to be more of a traditional British grub. Not sure if we have one in town.

  5. Great water drop photo. I@d like N to find a book series he enjoys, but so far haven't had any joy.

    1. Thank you, Emma! In Eddie's class a lot of them are reading the Beast Quest and also How to train your dragon series, and of course, The diary of a wimpy kid. What does N enjoy to watch? Maybe he will enjoy books related to the TV shows?

  6. Easter decs in the shops over here also, which always surprises me. The puddle reflection looks like a crack is opening up in the ground

    1. It is a bit ridiculous, isn't it, that the Easter eggs appear in shops as soon as Christmas is over.

    1. Thank you, Mary! If you go for Domino's try it on a Tuesday evening, as they have a 2 for 1 offer on Tuesdays. Otherwise, look for codes online.

  8. I find it odd that a cheese could be named after bread but looking at it I can see why. #365

    1. It's a strange name for a cheese, I totally agree, but it's worth trying, it's lovely and creamy.

  9. We haven't seen Hotel Transylvania 3 yet! Need to get hold of the DVD so we can watch it. Love the colour of that posy...so vibrant!

Used to love Domino's until someone said they don't always take care when making the vegetarian pizzas so decided not to risk it due to the possibility of cross contamination

    1. Hotel Transylvania 3 was funny, but I prefer the 2nd one, I think it's the best of the three.
