ChillFactor drink bottle
It is supposed to be a summer, isn't it? Today I was wearing a coat, taking Eddie to school in the morning. It was raining and the wind was blowing wild. But last week, though with a few showers of rain, we had a relatively good time weather-wise. We even managed to have a picnic in the park. One of the highlights of the week was making a chilled slushy juice drink with a ChillFactor Drinks Bottle. This is a very simple concept. Place a water bag from the bottle in the freezer for several hours, preferably overnight. When you fancy a cold drink or dessert, pour some juice or tea inside the water bag inserted in the bottle, squash it and squeeze, and soon you will have a chilled drink.
It reminded me of an Italian drink granita, which is a semi-frozen dessert, made of water, ice and flavourings. It is very popular in summer. I remember having a big glass of mint granita in Venice, and it was delightfully refreshing. You see the granita sold in big glass containers where the coloured ice keeps turning. A splendid sight on a hot day. To recreate a taste of an Italian summer at home, we made some healthy fruit and vegetable iced dessert.
For our first attempt at making the chilled drink-dessert, I used a bottle of vegetable juice which included beetroot. It was a great vibrant colour. The resulting dessert was bright pink-purple.
Eddie was a bit apprehensive about the colour, but once he tried it, he said it was very yummy. I felt very smug for introducing a healthy vegetable juice which he otherwise is not very keen on.
It says on the label "Chill your drink in seconds". Seconds might be a bit of a poetical license, it takes a couple of minutes to make a decent slushy drink.
The possibilities are endless, and with the fussy eaters like mine, this bottle might just become my new best friend, as I can sneak in all kinds of vegetable juice into an appealing dessert.
It is also BPA free.
Disclosure: I received a ChillFactor bottle for the purposes of reviewing. All opinions are mine.

I've not seen these before! They look like a really fab idea to make a cold drink quickly, and it's fab that you can sneak veggie's in!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Michelle! I wonder if I could try an adult version too, with a cocktail.
DeleteLooks delicious! It is such a good idea for healthy, cold drink. It is a shame, that there is no summer though.
ReplyDeleteI know, where is summer?! Sunny today, though still not warm enough.
DeleteI tried an earlier version and it was fun, although a bit of a faff. My son loved it though
