Twelve days of chocolate giveaway (ends 12 December 2019)

It's that time of the year again, my lovely blog readers! It has now become an annual event, which I run at the beginning of December for twelve days. Don't know about you, but I'm surely excited about it. I enjoy choosing different chocolate bars for each day of the giveaway, as well as buying little bits and bobs to go with them. This is a kind of prize I'd be happy to win myself.
Hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. There is 1,200kg of chocolate to win!

First of all, let me wish all my blog readers a very merry Christmas and a happy new year! (and if you don't celebrate Christmas, you're welcome too, I'm wishing you a lovely festive season!)

I love chocolate, and this giveaway is my celebration of all things chocolatey.

Every day I will offer you a chocolate bar and a little something too, edible or decorative.

For 12 days I will be revealing a part of an overall prize, and each day there will be a new question.

As stipulated in the T&Cs below, the number of winners will depend on how many questions the first randomly selected winner will answer. If they answer all 12 questions, they get the whole lot. If they choose to answer less questions, they'll get less prizes, and the remaining part of the prize will go to the next randomly selected winner.

Day 1:
Today's chocolate bar is a festive treat found in Lakeland - Christmas Pudding flavoured bar (spices, raisins, dark chocolate, crumbled biscuit and golden sparkle) + a Mini LED character - Snowman.

advent giveaway, Chez Maximka

Question 1 (1 December): Which gift are you most anticipating to give someone this year? (Or hoping to receive?)

Day 2 (2 December):
For me marzipan is associated with Christmas, and for today I'm offering a Ritter Sport Marzipan bar + Niedregger Marzipan.

Question 2:
What kind of food did you leave for Santa when you were little (or your children/grandchildren/family members)?

A few years ago, when Eddie was little and we were spending Christmas in Italy with my in-laws, we left a glass of milk, a carrot and a pastry for Santa and Rudolph. When he fell asleep, I discretely removed the pastry and carrot, and poured milk back in a little jug. In the morning, Eddie told me in a shocked whisper that Santa took his grandma's little plate.

Day 3 (3 December):
My guys all love white chocolate, so for the 3rd day here is a white chocolate bar from Green & Black's, a mini box of Raffaello and a mouse decoration.

Question 3:
Do you usually put a star or an angel on top of the Christmas tree?

(Typically we have a wooden angel with dangly legs, but when Eddie was in the nursery and made an elephant from a milk bottle and coloured paper, we had it on top of the tree for a few years, until someone squashed it. So, it's back to the angel now).

Day 4 (4 December):
I could never resist festive seasonal flavours, and just had to buy a Waitrose Dark Chocolate with Gingerbread flavour truffle filling. Breakfast crackers sound like a fun idea too.

Question 4:
Do you own an ugly Christmas jumper?

I have a few, and already started wearing one, with a cat sitting on a present. Last week, when I was wearing it to school to help in the library, I got a lot of comments from children who all seemed to approve of the glitter and sparkle.

Day 5 (5 December):
Today's chocolate is Divine Dark with ginger and orange + Waitrose festive baby avocado.
When I saw the avocado chocolate, I was intrigued what's particularly festive about it. I don't know the answer, you'll just have to find it out for yourselves. But it does look cute.

Question 5:
Which Christmas song is your favourite (or if you don't like them at all, which song annoys you the most)?

Day 6 (6 December):
Today's part of the prize stash is a Ritter Sport Rum Raisins Hazelnuts bar + a mini box of I ♡ 80s 90s Trivia.

Question 6:
Do you open gifts on Christmas or Christmas eve?

(It's trendy nowadays to have a Christmas eve box, but we don't do it.)

Day 7 (7 December):
Willie's Cacao Luscious Orange + Waterstones gift tags + Robin coasters (Sainsbury's Home) are today's addition to the stash.

Question 7:
Are you good at wrapping presents?

(I confess, I'm pretty rubbish at wrapping, I'm OK with boxes, but anything out of ordinary shape defeats me.)

Day 8 (8 December):
Today's part of the chocolate stash is a Galaxy Salted Caramel bar + a set of cake pens.
These pens are easy to use, and you can eat the decorated results (the ink is edible). You can see how I used them, if you have a look at the gingerbread cookies I baked for the author Sophie Anderson, when my son and I went to the book event in Oxford.

Question 8:
Have you ever kissed someone under the mistletoe?

I was trying hard to remember if I ever did, and think that, alas, it never happened to me.

Day 9 (9 December):
And we're on day 9 already. Today's prize addition is Divine Smooth Dark with raspberries (one of my personal favourites) plus a Maltesers reindeer and Reese's tree.

Question 9:
Which festive ornament has the most significance to you (or sentimental value)?

I have several Soviet ornaments - a little bird, a squirrel, a chilli pepper and a bauble from my childhood. Mum says they are from when I was a baby, so they're about 50 years old, pretty vintage. In comparison to my later years' collection of Xmas ornaments, they are rather plain but I treasure them the most.

Day 10 (10 December):
Another Divine chocolate bar, this time Divine Milk with Toffee and Sea Salt + a selection of cosmetics (Rodial Vit C face mask, Skyn firming eye gels, Formula face mask 15ml, L'Occitane almond hand cream 10ml)

chocolate giveaway, Chez Maximka

Question 10:
If you receive a present you don't like, can't use or already have exactly the same, do you regift it?

I have been known for regifting a number of scarves and gloves, mostly to my Mum.

Day 11 (11 December):
Lindt Excellence Dark Caramel with a touch of sea salt is another of my personal favourites, so I had to add it to the stash. A Frozen fizzer bar is a little homage to Frozen 2.

chocolate giveaway, advent competition

Question 11: No, it's not Do you want to build a snowman? But it's close enough - When was the last time you built a snowman?

We most likely built a snowman a couple of years ago. Though we did have snow last winter, we didn't build any snowmen.

How time flies, we are now on the last day of Chocmas.

Day 12 (12 December):
the last chocolate bar is M&S Swiss Blond with distinct aromas of caramel and shortbread, and a festive Poinsettia fine bone china mug.

Question 12, which is not a question as such - just wish a merry Christmas to a poster above you.
You might need to scroll all the way down, and click on Load more, to see comments beyond day 9, then all comments will show, and you will see who is the last poster.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Day 2 - aww that is such a cute comment !! lol. I used to leave a mince pie for Santa and a couple of carrots for the reindeer. My mum used to let the dogs chew on them then put them back on the plate so that I could marvel at the reindeer teeth marks next day !! lol

    ReplyDelete
  119. Day 6 - We open ours on Christmas Day morning, straight after the first mug of coffee!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Day 6 - when we're in the UK, we open everything on Christmas morning, but in France, it's all done on Christmas Eve. I always feel really deflated on Christmas Day because nothing happens, just a big meal (or I should say, another big meal - everyone's still full up from the night before !)

    ReplyDelete
  121. Day 6 - no, we've not adopted the Christmas Eve box idea. I think it must have been dreamed up by some sales executive who scratched his head and said "People are already buying as much as they possibly can for Christmas, now, how can we make them spend even more?"

    ReplyDelete
  122. Day 6 - always Xmas day! We do have a Xmas Eve box but it's just got a couple of kids activities to do in it not the main presents

    ReplyDelete
  123. Day 6. We always wait till Christmas day. @HelenArlowTT

    ReplyDelete
  124. Day 6 - we always wait till Christmas Day because I feel like if we open one on Christmas Eve we may struggle with where to draw the line and my son would just want to open everything

    ReplyDelete
  132. Day 7 - I'm rubbish at wrapping presents.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  134. Day 7 - I'm Ok-ish, but not brilliant. My wife is very good though, thankfully!
    @gouldie7

    ReplyDelete
  135. Day 6 - as a crafter I ought to be good at wrapping presents - but I'm not. In fact this year as a family we have agreed not to wrap each other's presents. Our local council says that wrapping paper is not recyclable and won't accept it, so we're doing our bit for the planet as well as saving the effort of wrapping.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Day 7 - I'm reasonable at wrapping presents, but Pierre has just informed me that I left a gap between the bits of Sellotape and Juliette has been squishing her fingers through to try to figure out what's inside ! Do they ever grow up ?! lol

    ReplyDelete
  137. Day 7 - I am absolutely useless at wrapping presents!

    ReplyDelete

  175. We have a crochet stocking that always sits at the bottom of the tree. My Mum made it for our older daughter's first Christmas and it's special to us because although Mum used to be a very talented knitter (she knitted my wedding dress!) she's never been very good at crochet.

  176. Day 9 - My wife has a Santa bauble that was a generation or two old when she was a kid! It must date from the early 1900's.

  177. Day 9 - I don't have any ornaments with a sentimental value. Both of us like our tree to be decorated with matching baubles. Until this year, the baubles were purple, but this year I've doubled the number of baubles and now we have a purple and white tree, with 4 big black baubles.

I think is nice to have old cherished ornaments though.

  180. Day 9, 4 year ago my grandmother gave me a Wedgwood bauble, she told me it was to remember her by when she was no longer with us. We all told her not to think like that, 6 months later she was in a tragic bus accident. Its a very special bauble and I actually don't ever back it away after Christmas.

  184. Day 9 - the ornament with most sentimental value to me is one from my late nanny! It's a tree decoration brought back from Alaska and I treasure it! @JMB_2293

  185. Day 9; they aren't really ornaments but I have some of my children's footprints made to look like snowmen which they did at nursery years ago. It reminds me how tiny they once were
