Ravensburger Historic Royal Palaces - Hampton Court Palace, 1000pc Jigsaw Puzzle

Once I get on a puzzle, I can't get off, said Richard P Feynman. I totally share his sentiment, once I start a puzzle, I feel I cannot rest until it's completed.
Ravensburger Historic Royal Palaces Hampton Court Palace is a splendid luxurious 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle. It is a collage image made from a range of photos of Hampton Court Palace. Most associated with Henry VIII, this palace is a must-see for any Tudor history fan.

The jigsaw puzzle is like a rich colourful tapestry, and a real pleasure to complete. It comes in a sturdy box with a reference leaflet.

The jigsaw puzzle takes you on a virtual tour of the palace, showing the view of the palace as well as details and close-ups including Henry VIII's astronomical clock, the ceiling of the Chapel Royal, the maze, the ceiling of The Queen's Drawing Room and the Tijou screen.

Four animal carvings shown at the bottom of the puzzle are known as The King's Beasts. They were commissioned by Henry VIII in anticipation of his marriage to Jane Seymour.

If you dip into my blog even occasionally, you might know that I enjoy puzzles. This is one of the quiet pleasures of life, a me-time. And this puzzle was a real treat. Some areas, like the fresco below are quite easy to assemble.

Some are a bit tricky, like the green maze and the formal garden.

And then there are rather fiendish areas like the Tijou Screen. This iron screen at the end of the Privy Garden was designed by the ironworker Jean Tijou.

I can't wait to discover the other puzzles in the Historic Royal Palaces range. This puzzle will make an excellent gift for any jigsaw puzzle fan or a history buff.

Purchases of the puzzles in this range support the work of Historic Royal Palaces.

Disclosure: I received the jigsaw puzzle for the purposes of reviewing. All opinions are mine.
