Photo diary: week 22, project 365

Ah, June, that marvellous month which brings with it a promise of more sunshine, longer evenings, an abundance of roses and the best British strawberries.
Our week of midterm holidays is almost over. On Monday it's back to school for Eddie, though not for Sasha as his school has an Inset day.
I don't feel recuperated at all, if anything, I'm more lethargic today and can't wait for the proper summer holidays.

Last Sunday I baked a semolina coconut cake, and my guys loved it.

We meet this cat most days, while walking through the flood fields into town. It's usually very relaxed around people, and ignores the passers. And every time Eddie asks if we could have a cat. I would love to have a cat as well. I grew up with cats, and miss their companionship.

Eddie and I had a quick brunch at M&S, as I was looking for some gifts for my husband to take on his trip.

The mock orange in the garden started to bloom in earnest. I love its smell.

We finished reading Midnight Hour, and started on a new book - Cogheart. It's another alternative history YA book. As always, we diverged from the book, as I was explaining the role of governesses to Eddie, and then we looked up some facts online.
We do that often: we read, then start looking for images of what's being mentioned in the books.

Feeling rather deflated, and most photos I take are of our garden, so here is another bloom, just outside the windows of our sitting room.

The last couple of days are so warm, and I've been trying to do several jobs in the garden. The weeding is a never-ending job, and oh boy, I hate it with passion.
Rose bushes in the middle of the garden have a beautiful scent.

Today I'm having one cup of coffee after another, and all I wish is crawling into bed for a nap, but it's not going to happen.

  1. Your roses look beautiful. I miss having a house cat too. We have strays on the farm but you can't get close to them.

  5. The trouble with weeding is that it's a never ending task. I could do with a longer break too. I think both H and I are looking forward to the summer.

  7. One of the joys of reading is the way it expands to other topics and subjects. brunch makes a change from sausage rolls.
It is nice to see the gardens getting prettier
