It's that time of the year again, my lovely blog readers! The 12 days of chocolate giveaway has now become an annual event, which I run from 1 December. It has been another crazy stressful year, but just try and stop me, I've been looking forward to running this giveaway for several months.
Don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about it. I enjoy choosing different chocolate bars for each day of the giveaway, as well as buying little bits and bobs to go with them. This is a kind of prize I'd be happy to win myself. And it's different every year.
Hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. There is over 1,2kg of chocolate to win!First of all, let me wish all my blog readers a stress-free Christmas and a happy new year! (and if you don't celebrate Christmas, you're welcome too, I'm wishing you a lovely festive season!).
I love chocolate, and this giveaway is my celebration of all things chocolatey.
Every day I will offer you a chocolate bar and a little something too, edible or decorative.
For 12 days I will be revealing a part of an overall prize, and each day there will be a new question.
As stipulated in the T&Cs below, the number of winners will depend on how many questions the first randomly selected winner will answer. If they answer all 12 questions, they get the whole lot. If they choose to answer less questions, they'll get less prizes, and the remaining part of the prize will go to the next randomly selected winner.
Day 1:
The first chocolate bar to be won is a festive Christmas Pudding 41% Milk Chocolate from Love Cocoa + a small Parks London Black Magic candle (Cedar, vetiver, patchouli, orange & clove).

What is your most memorable (or even craziest) Christmas experience? [If you don't celebrate Christmas, a festive winter season experience)?]
Day 2 (2 December):
Today is the Italian day - we love Venchi chocolate, so I'm delighted to offer a Venchi Cremino Pistacchio bar as the second instalment of the prize haul. Plus a small tin of Seggiano organic liquorice.
Question 2 (the 2nd of December):
- What are your three favourite desserts for Christmas?
Since my husband is Italian, we always have a panettone for Christmas, among other desserts. I'm not the biggest fan of Christmas cake, but will never say No to mince pies.
Day 3 (3 December):
Today's part of the prize is a Ritter Sport Marzipan chocolate bar + a Marzipan Brot log.
Christmas won't be Christmas without this festive treat.
If possible, would you rather have Christmas at home or a new destination?
Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be better to spend Christmas in a small cottage in Cornwall, or some remote lodge in Scotland (with mod cons, obviosuly), but so far this dream is just that, a dream.

Day 4 (4 December):
Ritter Sport Don Choco is the latest limited edition from Ritter Sport, it's made with a 100% certified sustainable cocoa, and lovely it is too. I managed to get hold of one for my giveaway (I tried it before, and then every time I ordered groceries on Ocado, it wasn't available, clearly it's a popular bar). M&S Christmas Mint Snowballs is a little extra for day 4.

What is your favourite Christmas movie that you just have to watch on the big day?
Day 5 (December 5):
The next part of the prize is a Galaxy Cookie Crumble chocolate bar and a mini bottle of Baileys Salted Caramel.
Question 5 (5 December):
Do you usually put a star or an angel on top of the Christmas tree?
We usually have an angel, but for several years our tree was decorated at the top with an elephant made of the plastic milk bottle, which my younger son made in the nursery.
Day 6 (6 December): And we're half way through. Cadbury Dairy Milk Winter Orange Edition is a festive chocolate bar. It is today's part of the prize, together with M&S Gryffindor chocolate lolly and M&S Harry Potter Hedwig chocolate.
Question 6 (December the 6th):
What is your most and least favourite Christmas meal (holiday meal) side dish?
I love brussels sprouts with chestnuts, but I'm the only one in the family. My guys will eat one obligatory brussel sprout at Christmas, and that's it until the next Christmas meal. Now the bread sauce is something I don't understand, that's a No from me.
Day 7 (7 December):
Today's part of the prize is Co-Op Irresistible Single Origin Dark Chocolate with Raspberries and a chocolate coin.
If you could be a character in a festive (Christmas or winter-themed) movie or TV series, who would you be and why?
I think I'd like to be Lady Mary in Downton Abbey, the Christmas episode when Matthew proposes.

Willie's Cacao Rio Caribe Gold Venezuelan dark chocolate is one of my personal favourites. It's just lovely, when you need a treat with your coffee. Two small packets of Christmas tags are a little extra for today.
What holiday song is your favourite (and/or which one annoys you the most)?
I think until you hear Last Christmas in the shops, it's not a proper Christmas season, but my favourite is the old-fashioned Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

For me it would be Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. Whenever The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy comes on Classic FM, I feel like dancing.
Day 10 (10 December):
What chocolate bar do we find today? Godiva Signature Salted Caramel Milk chocolate is smooth, creamy and moreish. The similar flavours're in a mini bar, from Tony Chocolonely. Compare the two and enjoy!

I managed to get some Marvel-themed gifts for my younger son, which I know he'll be thrilled with. I also bought a Loki top for myself, as I just knew nobody else would get it for me. :)

ReplyDeleteDay 1. I don't think I have any. We've had a pretty interesting when we got our puppy 12 years ago and he was so full of energy. That's a sad-emotional-happy memory.
Day 1. Back in the late 1950s/early 1960s when one year we had a white Christmas. On Christmas morning, while my Mum cooked the dinner, Dad took me, my brother and my Grandma out to Lymm Pool in Cheshire. It was frozen solid and people were skating and playing on the ice. We walked gingerly over the frozen water, with people all around happy, red-cheeked and wishing each other a Happy Christmas. It felt just like the Christmas in all my story books. But boy, were we glad to get home to a delicious hot dinner after such a chilly morning!
ReplyDeleteDay 1 I remember when a child the electric went off when the xmas dinner was cooking dad was using candles to try and put in new fuse wire back in the days before flicking a switch he got to close to a candle and it singed his eyebrows and hair ended up with ice pack on his head just lucky didnt burn his eyes

Day 1: My most memorable Christmas was a few years ago when my family and my dad and his partner went away for Christmas and stayed in a hotel. We had an amazing time and it was nice not have to do the Christmas food shop and cooking. x

My most memorable Christmas experience is curling up with my partner under a blanket to watch Christmas films and our two cats climbing in with us. We've since lost one of our cats to old age, but I will always treasure that memory of him purring and snuggling in against me as we laughed at silly film jokes.
ReplyDeleteDay 1: I remember when I was little and we always had dinner at my grandmas house. Anyway I opened my presents and she had got me some Christmas chocolate from Thornton’s which was big back then because we didn’t have much. Anyway, we had dinner and I wanted to eat the choc for pudding, went in the room to get it and there was the little dog, face first in the chocolate with a chocolate smile and everything.

ReplyDeleteDay 1 - I must have led a very boring life cos nothing particularly stands out! It's odd the things that make an impression though isn't it - one of my clearest memories is being given a selection box by my uncle. It made a massive impression on me - I think because it was so out of character for him (he wasn't a horrible person, but these days he would definitely have been diagnosed as very much on the autistic spectrum and emotions and people were not something he "did"!)

She cooked up lots of stuff wrapped it in foil and put it in the bottom to keep warm. We kept saying that we could smell burning but mum was adamant it was OK. By the time dinner was ready the potatoes, pigs in blankets and one veg was absolutely burnt to a crisp

ReplyDeleteDay 1: Honestly my first Christmas with my partner was very special because I didn't grow up celebrating Christmas! So he and his family went all out to make it special for me. It was a rush of excited chaos, I felt like a toddler even in my 20s!

They always wore three-piece suits and arrived with a jar of pennies, tuppences and threepences and there was always the exact amount to share equally between us siblings.

ReplyDeleteDay 1 - My most memorable Christmas experience - probably for all the wrong reasons - was when I had to step in and take over cooking Christmas dinner for my family when my mum was ill just before the big day. First the frozen turkey (which wasn't defrosted on Christmas eve) had to be defrosted in record quick time - then the foil over the turkey set on fire whilst cooking in my tiny gas oven. Our Christmas meal turned out OK in the end but was certainly not without incident!

ReplyDeleteAway in a Manger annoys me because it's always sung in too high a key for even children's voices so comes out sounding like a squeaky mess.
Day 8 - I'm not a fan of most Christmas songs to be honest 😅 but I love the song from the Nightmare Before Christmas. I think I've just started to associate most songs with having to go to the shops 😂

ReplyDeleteToday's question is a lot easier. Silent Night is my favourite no question. But I actually like most Christmas music, it's such a magical time of year.
Day 7 - I'd choose to be Iris in The Holiday because a trip to the USA and hanging out with Miles (Jack Black) would be amazing fun!
ReplyDeleteDay 8 - I would have to agree that until you hear Last Christmas it deesn't feel like Christmas. However, The Pogues song, Fairytale of New York is definitely the one that annoys me the most.

ReplyDeleteDay 1. I have a Christmas memory of when my late mum came to stay with us and on boxing day we went to a local deer park for a walk. It was so cold that day! Anyway she saw all the deer and said "Who feeds the bears?" - she meant the deer as English wasn't her first language - but we found it really funny that she called them bears (and we were rather glad that we don't have wild bears in England otherwise that would be a worry to have been walking amongst them!) ReplyDeleteDay 2. I absolutely LOVE panettone too - I even have tried to make it myself occasionally! But I did accidentally set fire to the oven once when making it so I have to be super cautious now (the baking paper caught light!) - Now that would have been a good memorable story for day 1 right? Oh well. My second fave dessert for Christmas is Mince Pie, and my third favourite is a Chocolate Ice cream bombe - that is also made with panettone - and icecream and covered in chocolate! I've always loved the idea of being away from home for Christmas - somewhere really hot and sunny - perhaps Dubai or Australia - I wouldn't be too worried about actually celebrating Christmas on that day - it would just be awesome to be somewhere really warm on Christmas day as a unique change to what we are used to! ReplyDeleteDay 5. We usually end up with an angel at the top of the tree. I have no particular preference over whether we have a Star or an Angel but often the kids will have made an angel so that goes on the tree and we have a cute fabric angel decoration that often makes it to the top of the tree. This year I was surprised to find that my daughter had chosen a bunny! But it is an angel bunny as it has wings so I guess that still falls under the category of an angel! Absolutely love the idea of having a handmade elephant on the tree - that is fantastic!!! Twitter handle: @thebeesleybuzz
ReplyDeleteDay 6. I have so many favourite side-dishes at Christmas! In fact, for me it's all about the side-dishes!!! I love making a chestnut and apricot stuffing so that is probably my favourite. I also make a homemade bread sauce and cranberry sauce so they are also high on my list of favourites. I adore sprouts too! I've even been organised enough to buy some veggie sausages and veggie bacon to make my own vegetarian pigs in blankets this year. I suppose my least favourite side dish might be the roast potatoes??? I'd love to one day make dauphinois potatoes for christmas as a special treat as they are my fave way of having potatoes. I love watching the Christmas episode of Dr Who - I know it's not a proper film but it is one of the things I most look forward to watching at Christmas (though in recent years it seems to have become a New Year's day Dr Who episode rather than on Christmas day) So I would love to be the Doctor's companion (with Matt Smith as the doctor as he is my favourite doctor) as I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas than travelling through time and space in the TARDIS seeing the awesome views of our universe! Oooh just in time to catch up on all my entries in your lovely giveaway ! This is part of the build-up to Christmas - I always have to enter ! xx
ReplyDeleteDay 1 - I remember a few years ago, when the kids were smaller, we had to dress my dad up as a snowman, wrapping him up in toilet roll (all provided for a blogpost). It started off sensibly enough, while I took the photos, then - largely encouraged by my dad - they started ripping all the toilet roll off and flinging it around the room. My dad was giggling as much as the kids, yelling "it's snowing hohoho" while my mum was dashing around with a hoover desperately trying to clean up ! lol
Day 2 - My favourite Christmas dessert? Well, I do like Yule log (bûche de Noël in French) - except when my mother-in-law makes one with coffee flavour icing ! Mince pies are very nice, as is fruit salad - not at all Christmassy but it goes down rather nicely after all the rich Christmas food :)
ReplyDeleteDay 3 - Every single year, we used to spend Christmas either at my mum and dad's or at the in-law's and it was only when we were in confinement that we stayed at home with just the four of us - it was actually very enjoyable and nice to pick and choose the traditions that we like best from both countries. :)

ReplyDeleteDay 5 - Ermm usually it's a pointy star thingy that they have in France. It's not the shape of a star but I think that's what it's supposed to represent. It's long and pointed like a kind of candle shape with a star thing in the middle, with light pointing out of the top and bottom - it sounds more exciting than it is ! I love the idea of an elephant on the top of the tree :)
ReplyDeleteDay 6 - I'm the same as your guys. I will eat a couple of sprouts at Christmas dinner but I'm not a fan so I never buy them for the rest of the year ! I love pigs in blankets, as it's the only time of year they come out too :)

ReplyDeleteDay 8 - I have a Christmas compilation CD that is always on in the run up to Christmas. I love the original Band Aid single, Wham's Last Christmas is definitely a classic then the oldies like Merry Christmas Everyone and Fairytale of New York.

Even if, like the Christmas in confinement or this year, we'll be ringing them - or almost definitely video chatting with my family - catching up on who got what for Christmas and who's eating what. Nothing really happens all day when we're there, but we still really miss it when we're not there ! :(
ReplyDeleteDay 10 - I got myself some pyjamas and a box of American foodie items ( well, the kids got them but I paid for them !). I'm in the process of buying Sophie a new one because hers is splitting apart and I'm not at all sure about how safe it is ! :-/ I've got lots of other secret goodies for Pierre and Juliette and I'm looking forward to seeing how they react (hopefully positively !).
