Last day of the season at Cogges

It was the last day of the open season at Cogges Manor Farm yesterday, and luckily it was a sunny day. We said good bye to the friendly piggies who jump up to greet the visitors, expecting snacks (you can buy the veggie/fruit snacks at the entrance to feed the animals).

A kissable piggie

The house itself was semi-closed to visitors. That is, the rooms upstairs were not available to visit, but you could still stroll through the ground floor and admire the beautiful kitchen, my favourite place in the manor farm. Despite the size, it looks very cozy and feels warm and welcoming, I could just see myself cooking there, to my heart's content.

The pantry shelves looked like paintings by Giorgio Morandi, approaching the zen of tranquility and serenity in the simple arrangement of pots, pans and bottles.

The window boasted a beautiful display of the late October produce from the garden.

My guys were keen to visit their favourite play area, with the slides, swings and zip wire.

Sasha was almost ecstatic on the  swing, closing his eyes as if trying to capture the moment of bliss in his memory and store it for months to come, as the play area will be closed until late March.

We climbed the trees.

Some of us were not sure climbing up was such a good idea after all.

The day was sunny and tranquil, who would have thought there were storms earlier in the week.

Zip wire, we'll miss you.

And even I was caught in the jolliness of the moment, balancing on the tree trunk.

Good bye, Cogges, see you next spring!

  3. Those piggies look adorable. What a lovely place to have close by and such a shame they close for the winter, I can see why you are going to miss it. Thank you for linking up to Country Kids.

    1. Sadly we don't have another super play area like this one nearby in town, all the other playgrounds are for younger kids, no zip wires.

  4. So good to know Cogges is still open. We went years ago as children, but always thought it had closed since then, Might have to make the trip next season as I know we enjoyed it when we went. #MagicMoments

    1. Emma, it was closed for a couple of years due to the lack of funding, it was such a shame. I was very happy they reopened it, hope they will continue doing it.
