Win a baking hamper with Chobani (giveaway c/d 1 May 2013) NOW CLOSED


A few weeks ago I reviewed a selection of Chobani yogurts. If you missed my post, you can find it here. These fat free yogurts are absolutely delicious and healthy. And make a versatile ingredient for lots of different recipes, both sweet and savoury.

Lovely people from Chobani have kindly offered a baking hamper for one of my blog readers.

One lucky winner will receive:

  • The ingredients they need to make Chobani Cranberry Blood Orange Oat Bars (see the recipe below)

Cranberry Blood Orange oat bars
INGREDIENTS
190ml Chobani Fat Free Blood Orange Strained Yoghurt
120g plain flour
155g quick cooking oats
110g brown sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
¼ tsp salt
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
3 tbsp canola oil
3 tbsp orange juice
100g sugar
15g plain flour
1 large egg white
250g dried cranberries
Zest of ½ an orange
PREPARATION
Step 1
Preheat oven to 160°C (Gas Mark 3). Lightly coat a 17.75-­‐cm (11x7-­‐in) rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray.
Step 2
Whisk together flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, bicarbonate of sod and salt in a ;arge bowl. In a small bowl whisk together butter, canola oil and orange juice. Add juice mixture to flour mixture stirring until
crumbly.
Reserve 125ml of mixture for later. Press rest o fmixture into pan and up sides, using bottom of a measuring cup to even out base.
Step 3.
Whisk yoghurt, sugar, flour and egg white in a medium bowl. Stir in cranberries and orange zest. Spread over base in even layer. Sprinkle reserved oat mixture on top.
Step 4.
Bake until edges are golden-­‐brown, 30-­‐40 minutes. Cool completely and slice into bars.

  6. I love yogurt in anything but my healthiest favourite is tasty low fat dips for veg and salads. I experiment adding different herbs and spices and get a different flavour every time!

  27. What a splendid hamper. I use yogurt a lot in my baking, especially cakes where it helps to give a rise and makes the cakes moister with a slight tang - love it. Have loads of recipes using it on my blog.

  35. I love to use yoghurt to make Irish soda bread. Traditionally buttermilk was used but I usually use yoghurt. If you would like to give it a try, check out my recipe here Vohn x

  36. Simple quick dessert, mix equal quantities of thick yoghurt with whipped cream and add halved grapes, any colour and sprinkle demarara sugar on top.

  46. I like making creamy steak and onions ( cut steak into strips and fry with red onion & garlic. Add couple of teaspoons of tarragon and large pot of natural yoghurt. Heat until bubbling. Serve with rice.

  54. Among my favourite and most-used recipes is one for Ciambella (and Italian ring cake) that uses yoghurt and olive oil. It's very good, easily adaptable and, most remarkably, readily eaten by both of my children

  85. I just like yoghurt neat. Though, I did try my hand at making some ice cream with it last year. (didn't work out cos I don't have an icecream maker and it ended up more like a block of ice... still nice though once it'd softened a bit)

  117. I'm not sure if these count, since they're so simple, but my favorites are greek yogurt parfaits and frozen greek yogurt (mixing chobani with chocolate, nuts, sugar, etc., and sticking it in the freezer for a bit)! YUM!
